Falling by the Civil Wars
Haven't you seen me sleep walking?
'Cause I've been holding your hand
Haven't you noticed me drifting?
Oh, let me tell you, I am
Tell me it's nothing
Try to convince me
That I'm not drowning
Oh let me tell you, I am
Please, please tell me you know
I've got to let you go
I can't help falling
Out of love with you
Why am I feeling so guilty?
Why am I holding my breath?
Worry 'bout everyone but me
I just keep losing myself
Tell me it's nothing
Try to convince me
That I'm not drowning
Oh let me tell you, I am
Please, please tell me you know
I've got to let you go
I can't help falling
Out of love with you
Won't you read my mind?
Don't you let me lie here
And die here
Please, please tell me you know
I've got to let you go
I can't help falling
Out of love with you
Haven't you noticed?
I'm sleepwalking
I chose this song for Ruth and Walter because it is almost like the singer is begging for her lover to save their relationship. "Haven't you seen me sleep walking?/'Cause I've been holding your hand/Haven't you noticed me drifting?/Oh, let me tell you, I am" Ruth and Walter have been drifting apart since even before the play started. They finally admitted that the love was almost gone during the middle of the play and that is what is being reflected in this song. Just like Ruth pleaded with Walter, this song pleads for a new chance. Its a last hope... and luckily the play has a happy ending between Ruth and Walter. This song represents Ruth and Walter's relationship for most of the play.
