financial aid 2018
I realized i did the math wrong, so i have rewritten this post*
i accepted the grants.
thats nearly 8000 per semester comig back to me.
tuition is about 4000 $ maybe it little more per semester (add in the health insurance and its like 1000) so lets say 5000.
8000 - 5000 = 3000
-300 for books.
2700.
send 1000 to savings.
1000 to car payments
700 to my checking account. (to be used to pay off credit card more than likely.)

fantasy future..... - not likely to happen.
DOES NOT LOOK FAVORABLY ON GENRE FICTION
okay lets say my prays come true and the University of Virginia allows a MFA Fiction Creative writing programwith a concentration in genre fiction.... and by some miracle i actually get in.
and i mean a miracle.
they only accept 5 people for fiction.
- free tuition.
- health insurance and school fees included.
- $20,000 fellowship income/teaching assistanceship income a year (for 2 years).
like holy shit.
there are student apartments as low as 400$ a month. that are pet friendly. (I have to have Smokey, no ifs ands or butts.)
lets say.... 200$ pet deposit and then a 40$ pet fee added each month. (i'm guessing here.)
rent
200 + (450 x 12) = 5600.
20,000 - 5,600 = 14,400.
so thats living expenses.
250 a month on groceries....
250 x 12 = 3000
14,400 - 3,000 = 11,400.
now car insurance.... lets say 200 a month?
200 x 12 = 2,400.
11,400 - 2,400 = 9,000.
now add in my car payments.... 130 a month.
130 x 12 = 1560
9000 - 1560 = 7440.
now.... phone.
52 x 12 = 624
7440 - 624 = 6816.
lets round that down to 6,500.
now that money would easily be spent..... trust me. oncluding gas and clothes and possible trips....
but... 20,000 is enough to live off of.
i would still try to work part time, because i'm not an idiot.
but woah.
if i did have a job and brought home even....200$ a month?
lets add all monthly expenses shall we?

plans for the future
so with the whole bed and breakfast idea pretty much on hold for a long time, i really don't know what way to go after i graduate.
but i got to talking with my mom.... and when i look back over my life thus far i have been inspired and encouraged and supported by a lot of influential people.
what do they all have in common?
they're educators.
now don't get me wrong, i've contemplated teaching ever since i was in high school. I just didn't want to major in teaching in college.
next i wanted to keep in mind that i don't want to go to grad school for anthropology. i LOVE anthropology but not enough to want to go into the field, thus going to grad school for that wouldn't make sense.
but creative writing? I've been considering that all semester.
if i go with creative writing and get a masters degree in it, then i could be qualified to teach it at a high school level.
work at foodlion while i go to grad school.
work at foodlion while i also double as a substitute teacher until.....
i find a teaching position.
i could teach composition and creative writing.
I also want to coach tennis.
